This article is designed for administrators of institutions who want to learn how to create custom exams for their users.

The following video will walk you through the step-by-step process of using the exam builder tool in the Prep application to create custom exams.

Creating a Custom Exam

  1. Open the Exam Builder
    • Go to PREP → Exam Library → Create an Exam.
  2. Choose a Question Bank
    • Select the modality (Radiography, Limited Scope, CT, MRI, etc.).
    • Available banks depend on your institution’s access.
  3. Select Access Type
    • Open Access: Students can see each question and full feedback.
    • Reserved Access: Students only see score percentages; no question review.
  4. Choose Content Categories
    • Select or deselect ARRT‑aligned categories and subcategories.
    • All categories selected = preset ARRT weighting.
  5. Adjust Category Weighting (Optional)
    • Drag the percentage bubbles to customize category distribution.
  6. Configure Exam Settings
    • Name your exam.
    • Choose up to 200 questions.
    • Enable or disable the timer (ARRT time‑per‑question).
    • Enable or disable the pause option.
  7. Click Create Exam
    • Your custom exam is saved in your Exam Library.
    • Exams can be assigned multiple times and always use the same questions.
