This article is designed for administrators of institutions who want to learn how to create custom exams for their users.

The following video will walk you through the step-by-step process of using the exam builder tool in the Prep application to create custom exams.

Creating a Custom Exam

Open the Exam Builder
- Go to PREP → Exam Library → Create an Exam.
Choose a Question Bank
- Select the modality (Radiography, Limited Scope, CT, MRI, etc.).
- Available banks depend on your institution’s access.
Select Access Type
- Open Access: Students can see each question and full feedback.
- Reserved Access: Students only see score percentages; no question review.
Choose Content Categories
- Select or deselect ARRT‑aligned categories and subcategories.
- All categories selected = preset ARRT weighting.
Adjust Category Weighting (Optional)
- Drag the percentage bubbles to customize category distribution.
Configure Exam Settings
- Name your exam.
- Choose up to 200 questions.
- Enable or disable the timer (ARRT time‑per‑question).
- Enable or disable the pause option.
Click Create Exam
- Your custom exam is saved in your Exam Library.
- Exams can be assigned multiple times and always use the same questions.
